Spotify has introduced an innovative AI-powered feature called AI Playlist, enabling users to generate personalized playlists using text prompts. This feature, currently in open beta testing, is an evolution of Spotify’s AI DJ and is exclusively available to Premium subscribers in select regions.
Initially launching in the UK and Australia for Android and iOS users, Spotify plans to expand the AI Playlist feature to other regions in the future. Describing its capabilities, Spotify invites users to create playlists based on specific moods, genres, or imaginative prompts like feeling like the “main character.”
To access the AI Playlist feature, Premium subscribers in eligible regions can navigate to the Your Library section on the home page, then tap the ‘+’ icon to access playlist options, including blending playlists and now creating AI playlists. By typing a text prompt, users can instruct the AI to curate a tailored playlist based on their preferences.

Spotify encourages users to be creative with their prompts, referencing genres, moods, artists, activities, and even emojis. The AI leverages Spotify’s extensive language model and personalization engine to tailor playlists according to individual preferences, ensuring a unique listening experience for each user.
Moreover, Spotify emphasizes that offensive prompts are filtered out through implemented measures, safeguarding a positive and inclusive user experience. This AI-driven feature represents Spotify’s commitment to enhancing music discovery and personalization for its subscribers.
As Spotify continues to innovate with AI technologies, the AI Playlist feature promises to revolutionize how users engage with music streaming platforms, offering an intuitive and personalized approach to playlist creation based on simple text prompts.
