The Jio Phone 2 looks similar to old BlackBerry phones and offers same features of the original JioPhone. It will be available at an introductory price of Rs 2,999 during the first flash sale. Note that buyers will have to get the Reliance Jio SIM card separately. Also, the device will support only Reliance Jio SIM cards and not of any other telecom operator.
Like the older JioPhone, the new JioPhone 2 runs KaiOS and supports WhatsApp, YouTube, Facebook and Google Maps as well. The major difference between the JioPhone and the JioPhone 2 iis the QWERTY keypad and support for horizontal viewing.
The original JioPhone only allowed vertical view for videos. With the new JioPhone 2 you can use the full screen estate to view videos. Apart from these two significant differences there is nothing new as such in the new JioPhone 2.
Both the variants offers support for 24 Indian languages, voice commands and comes with a dedicated voice assistant button. Both the JioPhones offer a 2.4-inch QWGA display along with a dual nano SIM card slot. Even the battery of 2,000mAh is same. On the camera department, the JioPhone 2 offers a 2MP rear camera along with VGA front camera. The quality of both is similar. There is support for 4G VoLTE, of course and 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage, expandable up to 128GB in both the versions. The JioPhone 2 offers FM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NPS and GPS support like the older JioPhone.
