WhatsApp Introduces today the rollout of a “search by date” feature for individual and group chats on Android devices, bringing enhanced conversation retrieval capabilities. This functionality, previously available on iOS, Mac desktop, and WhatsApp Web, is aimed at facilitating users in finding specific chats efficiently.
Mark Zuckerberg shared the news via his WhatsApp channel, demonstrating the feature with a video showcasing a search for an old chat about Karaoke. With this update, users can search for chats on a particular date, streamlining the process of locating past conversations.
To utilize the feature, users navigate to the details of a one-on-one or group chat by tapping on the contact or group name. From there, they can initiate the search by tapping the search button and selecting the calendar icon. While users can already search through conversations by media type, such as links, media, and documents, this addition further enhances chat organization and retrieval.

WhatsApp has been actively testing other search-related features, including chat filters such as “All,” “Unread,” “Contacts,” and “Groups.” Additionally, recent reports suggest the development of a new filter called “Favorites,” allowing users to quickly access starred messages for improved conversation management.
By continuously introducing updates and improvements, WhatsApp aims to enhance user experience and streamline communication processes across its platform.
