WhatsApp, under Meta’s ownership, continues its user-friendly evolution with a unique feature in the pipeline: file sharing with nearby contacts.
This new feature, akin to Android’s ‘Nearby Share,’ mandates physical proximity between users. Currently available in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.2.17, the tool introduces a dedicated file-sharing section.
To utilize this feature, users open the dedicated file-sharing section, where an intriguing twist awaits. Users must shake their devices to generate a share request, ensuring a dynamic and interactive experience. Notably, files can only be sent to contacts in the user’s list.
Ensuring security, the file-sharing feature incorporates end-to-end encryption, aligning with WhatsApp’s commitment to user privacy.
Although still in development, reports hint at its potential inclusion in future app versions. The release date for the stable version remains undisclosed, with no official announcement as of now.
